I bought my first and only Anathema record in -95, it was the album Serenade. That was my first encounter with Doom Metal. At that time I wasnt quite ready for that kind of music so i didnt listen to it that much. I do remember that I liked the song Sleepless but thats it.

For some reason i looked it up on Spotify today and this time I was more ready for it.

The mixture of slowpaced ultrahard growl and beautiful acoustic songs like J’ai Fait Une Promesse blew me away. The atmosphere is intense, its hard, beautiful and sad all at once.
